(1) Activated Carbon can be classified according to its shape: Cylindrical carbon, Crushed carbon, powdered carbon and so on. (2) Activated Carbon can be classified according based on its application: Activated Carbon from coal for water purification, AC from coal for air purification, coal-based AC for desulfurization and denitrification.
AC from coal for water purification is to be used for dechlorination deoiling and purifying of industrial water and advanced purifying treament of service and potable water and sewage water; AC from coal for air purification is to be used for air purification and gas separatio and refinement; Coal-based AC for desulfurization and denitrification is to be used for removal of hydrogen suifide and other sulfides from coal gas. (3)Post-treated Activated Carbon: Acid-treated carbon, Water-washed carbon. Acid-treated carbon is to reduce ash content and floatable fines, and increase acidity. Water-washed carbon is to reduce floatable fines and solve floating problem. . 7
